Contentment, Part 1

Are you delighting in God’s will for your life? Are circumstances drawing you closer to God or pushing you away? Do circumstances determine your joy in God? Are you content? The Puritan Jeremiah Burroughs once said, “Christian contentment is that sweet, inward, quiet, gracious frame of spirit, which freely submits and delights in God’s wise and fatherly disposal in every condition.” If we were honest, contentment with submission and delight is an extreme challenge to our hearts. It is a pure act of faith at the end of the day, and without faith it is impossible to please God. Too often we grumble, gripe, and complain about God’s providence in our lives. Listen along and learn from Philippians 4:10-13 about the true nature of Christian contentment.
